Our Story.

In 2001, my husband and I moved from North Texas to the Midwest for a career opportunity. Ten years later we were having a baby. As a sixth generation native Texan, imagine the overwhelming distress that filled my head (and heart) after acknowledging my daughter would not be born in my beloved Texas!

Simply unacceptable.

The solution.

As other Texans have done in similar situations, my parents gathered a bit of dirt from the backyard of my family home in East Texas and delivered it north in a plastic ziplock baggie so my daughter could be "Born on Texas Soil."

We found a small wooden box for the dirt and placed it under the hospital bed. My daughter was officially/unofficially born on Texas soil and will forever be a seventh generation Texan.

It took 10 years,  but we have finally created the perfect family heirloom to hold our daughter's very own Texas Soil

And thus, Texas Generations was born.

We acknowledge, with respect, that the land we love, live on, work on, and call Texas is land that Indigenous People have lived on, worked on, and loved. We also acknowledge the six flags that have flown over this land. Therefore, Texas Generations is not a call to exclude any peoples, cultures, or histories, rather it is a genuine expression of love for this land and all those who call it home.
